Europcar implements Galileo’s new booking enhancement

Paris
, April 25th, 2005 – Europcar International is the first European car rental company to implement the newest CarMaster enhancement of Galileo – Delivery&Collection and Billing Reference.

Galileo International, a Cendant Corporation Company, is one of the world’s leading providers of electronic global distribution services. The company is connecting approximately 43,500 travel agencies to 460 airlines, 23 car rental companies, 58,000 hotel properties, 430 tour operators and all major cruise lines throughout the world. Galileo and Europcar are partners since several years.

The functionality “Delivery&Collection” as well as “Billing Reference” are now activated for Europcar on both Apollo and Galileo Systems – which clearly is an enhancement to the booking process. All the reservations can be processed automatically without having to take a detour via the Europcar Call Center for a final booking. Thus the travel agent saves time and costs which leads to a higher productivity. Providing this enhanced booking process between Europcar and customers demonstrates the Europcar commitment to the travel agency community.

The Galileo and Apollo systems directly interface with Greenway, Europcar’s state-of-the-art Reservation-, Front- and Back-office system. The advantage for the customers shows on the travel plan printed via Galileo – now it will include the complete Europcar car rental reservation.

“Strong partnership, making booking fast and easy for the travel agencies and improving our services to all customers in all segments is our corporate goal” says Rafael Girona, COO of Europcar International.

“We are delighted that Europcar International is the first to launch ‘Delivery & Collection’ to its international agency partners. This new functionality will have enormous benefits to all travel management companies and agencies that book Europcar on behalf of corporate and leisure clients throughout the world. Europcar has demonstrated its commitment to the agency channel and this enhancement further consolidates and strengthens our partnership.” commented Tim Jeffreys, Head of Cars, Galileo International, Cendant TDS.

Europcar is represented in 143 countries with 2,825 rental stations and operates a fleet of over 200,000 vehicles throughout Europe, Central and South America, Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and Asia-Pacific.
