European leader Europcar voted "World's Leading Leisure Car Rental" by travel agents
Europcar, Europe's leading car rental company has just received the highest accolade from the World Travel Awards 2004: the title of "World's Leading Leisure Car Rental"
After becoming "Europe's Leading Car Hire" last year, Europcar won this award again at the World Travel Awards ceremony held in Barbados on 11 December, confirming the appropriately named company's leading position in its field.
But Europcar's greatest achievement was undoubtedly winning the title "World's leading Leisure Car Rental". This honour recognises the company's constant efforts to improve service quality and expand overseas. Basing its expansion on its acknowledged competence in car rental, Europcar has become a truly international provider of mobility services, creating important partnerships with airlines, rail operators, hotel groups, automobile clubs and breakdown services. To date, Europcar has a direct presence in seven countries and franchises in a further 116.
The World travel Awards were created in 1993 in order to promote and reward excellence in travel and tourism all over the world. Awards are divided into region and business activity, and are attributed by a jury comprising travel agents worlwide who wish to cast their votes online. This year some 150,000 people, from 80,000 travel agencies, were invited to take part, and this is what makes these awards the highest recommendation that the tourist industry can offer.
"Europcar is proud and delighted to be considered by the tourist industry as a company staffed by consummate professionals who strive for total quality service. This award testifies to our achievement of one of our targets for 2004 - putting service quality first, with the "Global Quality Service" programme, and it recognises that this quality can be found throughout the entire Europcar network all over the world", said CEO Salvatore Catania.
This confirms Europcar's leading position in its sector in Europe, whatever the criteria. Europcar today operates a fleet of over 125,000 vehicles at 2.680 locations in 123 countries covering Europe, Central and South America, Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean and Asia Pacific. Europcar is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, the number one car manufacturer in Europe.
